For our founder, Sean, electrical safety isn’t just a policy. It is a personal mission born from firsthand experience. Years ago, he was woken in the middle of the night by what he thought was hail, only to discover it was the sound of flames crackling through his attic. He and his roommates escaped, but they lost most everything in the fire, which was later found to have been started by an electrical surge on an improperly grounded system.
This reality hit hard because of his previous work as a handyman, new to the trades. He had been trained in a "run and gun" environment where the standard was often "good enough" to get the job done quickly. After the fire, he was haunted by the potential consequences of this approach and was not willing to work in a system that encouraged cutting corners. He saw too many who offered what he calls a "taillight guarantee," the kind of work that’s only guaranteed as long as you can see the contractor's taillights driving away.
That weight led him to make a life-changing decision. He came back to the trades and committed himself to mastering the electrical trade correctly by applying for an apprenticeship with the IBEW.
